Wayne Merle Kimsey

November 6, 1932 — October 18, 2022

Beloved husband and father, Wayne Merle Kimsey, was born in Ducktown, Tennessee on November 6, 1932, and passed from this life to a better tomorrow on October 18, 2022.

Wayne leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Susan Daily Rozsnyai Kimsey; daughter, Shelby Luckel (Donnie); granddaughter, Alicia; three great grandsons, Wyman, Bryce, and Grayson of Jacksonville; stepson, Greg Hires of Knoxville, TN.; stepdaughter, Dorothy Rozsnyai Diana (Marc) and three grandsons, Canon, Theo, and Blaise of Davidson, NC.

Preceding Wayne in death are his wife, Anita Hires; parents, Wayne Elicus Kimsey and Lennie Blanche Runion Kimsey; his sister, Barbara Kimsey Case and his brother, Tom Kimsey.

Wayne will be interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors as he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1953 in the Korean War as a Communications Sgt (T). He retired after 30 years of service from AT&T – Western Electric doing Central Office phone network installation in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. He went on to work at Broadway Towers in Knoxville, Tennessee as the maintenance supervisor, - retiring a second time after 17 years.

As a loving and giving person, some of Wayne’s activities included: building a new church, caring for his mother and spouse through prolonged illness (both dec’d), and teaching Sunday school and evening Bible classes. He was President of his Sunday School, on the Church Finance Committee, a Summer Camp counselor, and a neighborhood ‘go to’ person for help with auto or home maintenance. Moving in 2015 to Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms Florida, Wayne was President of the Model Railroad Club for several years. Most importantly, Wayne is remembered by his daughter and family as a devoted Dad who lovingly helped with all the tasks of child rearing and for all the “great adventures” they enjoyed together as a family. Wayne loved home improvement projects, camping, fishing, and the great outdoors.

Wayne and Susan spent their retirement years enjoying doing volunteer work in their community and taking their RV on road trips throughout Florida and across the U.S. They also enjoyed using Amtrak to places like Glacier National Park and to visit family on the West Coast.
