Wesley (Wes) Reimer was released from the constraints of time to step into eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 24, 2025 in Penney Farms, Florida. Wes was born in Boerne, Texas on June 28, 1940. He was 84 years old at the time of his death, from the effects of Parkinson's dementia.
Wes enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old and served three years as a Nuclear Weapons Technician. After his Navy service, Wes attended college and graduated from Southern Oregon College in 1968.
After working for years, mostly in sales and social work, Wes attended Multnomah School of the Bible from 1975-76, where he heard about the need for a Christian radio station announcer for the summer in Alaska. He applied and was accepted. Early the next year he met his future wife, Mary, at a training program for future missionaries. They served almost 30 years in Christian missions work in the U.S. and the Philippines, serving mostly in administrative and human resources positions. Wes' last position in Aviation recruiting for JAARS was one of his favorites, along with being a two-way radio operator in the Philippines communicating with the translation teams.
Wes retired from Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2006. His retirement years were spent in Texas and Florida, while taking time to travel to many countries via ocean cruises. Wes served in various volunteer positions until his health deteriorated due to Parkinson's disease. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Middleburg, FL.
Wes enjoyed photography, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He loved airplanes, always looking to the sky whenever he heard one and often naming the type of aircraft. Wes' kind heart, generous spirit, and great sense of humor were a blessing to family, friends, co-workers and the many, new missionaries whom he helped prepare for missions service. He loved Jesus and lived a life full of love and laughter.
Wes is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Reimer, and her extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Karin Reimer, and his brother, Swroy Bradshaw.
Wes chose to be cremated. His ashes will be spread at a later date in the ocean, per his wishes. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to JAARS, Inc. in Waxhaw, North Carolina in his honor.
