William “Bill” Dale Damon
William Damon passed peacefully at 84 years of age on August 25, 2022 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Vincennes, Indiana on October 5, 1937. Married to Pauline Lewellen on December 5, 1964. Lived the beginning of his life in southern Indiana, then served in the US Army in Fort Leonardwood in Kansas, then Fort Carson in Colorado as military police. He worked as an auto body repair mechanic for decades, then started his own business as a handyman, remodeling homes and building room additions, eventually getting his roofing contractor’s license. He started for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority at 54 years old, retiring at 62. A lifetime member of the Case Collector Club, he had a large collection of Case knives that he loved to show off to anyone who showed the slightest interest.
He was predeceased by his brothers Charles Edward, Richard Elwood, and Thomas Allen. William is survived by his wife Pauline and his sons William Dale and Thomas Dean, and daughter Cynthia Wimsatt.
Graveside service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on September 12, 2022 at 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to communityhospice.com which was a great help in easing his passing.
