William Dennis Sceals
February 12, 1928 – April 29, 2024
William “Bill” Sceals passed away on April 29, 2024 at the age of 96 in Orange Park, FL. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Fitzgerald, GA to Thomas and Nannie Sceals. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School. Following High School Bill was drafted into the Army proudly serving during World War II in the Philippines. Bill was part of a team that worked and served General Douglas Mac Arthur while on the island.
Following his service Bill lived in Jacksonville, FL. Bill attended Massey Business College and began work with Florida Georgia Tractor Company where he was employed selling heavy equipment for 40 years. Bill was awarded many sales honors and distinctions that included travel throughout the country.
In 1956 he met and fell in love with Geraldine Crosby Sceals. It was a blind date and from the moment they met they were never apart. They married on August 24, 1957 and celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 brothers and sisters.
Bill is survived by his wife, Gerrie; sister, Jeanette; three children, Suzanne (Mike), Michael, and John (Kelly); 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness to all, and immense love for his family. He will live forever in the lives that he touched.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
