Wilma Davis Stanley of Orange Park, Florida suddenly went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 15, 2021. Born on August 13, 1965, Wilma was the oldest daughter of Charles (Dave) and Aurora (Gloria) Davis.
After graduating from Orange Park High School, she attended St. John’s Technical College where she received a degree in computer technology. She then went to work at the Child Development Center at NAS Jacksonville. After retiring from the Child Development Center, she went on to work with the Clay County School Board.
Wilma welcomed her daughter Nicole Michelle Stanley on July 17, 1989. Nicole was the joy of Wilma’s life!
For many years Wilma traveled and volunteered with Special Olympics of which Nicole was a medal winning athlete. She loved being Nicole’s biggest cheerleader and was so excited for her daughter when she would participate in numerous sports. If there was an event or service opportunity to support the Special Olympics Athletes, Wilma was right there. She enrolled Nicole into the work force through Challenge Enterprise. This was a great opportunity for both Nicole and Wilma.
She faithfully worshiped and served at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Like her mother Aurora (Gloria) Wilma was a member of Navy Wives Club of America and of the VFW. She participated in numerous fundraisers and service projects with both clubs.
Wilma leaves behind, her daughter Nicole Stanley, her only sibling Rhonda Davis Bowers, nieces and nephews Kaylynn Allen (Caleb) Cooper and Tucker Allen; Ashlee Channell (Gerald Head) Coleman Head, K.C. Channell; numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Jeff Bowers.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
