Judith "Judy" Wainwright Dixon

Judith Wainwright Dixon (Judy), 81, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022, at her home in Fleming Island, FL.  Judy was born on July 22, 1941, in Jacksonville, FL to parents Frank Wainwright and Louie Belle Starling. 

Judy grew up in Jacksonville and was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School.  In 1963, she began a distinguished career at Winn Dixie Stores.  Through sacrifice and hard work, she earned a BBA in Finance from the University of North Florida in 1987 and was promoted to Director of Shareholder Relations.  In 1995, Judy was named Corporate Secretary, becoming the company’s first female corporate officer.  After 40 years of loyal service, she joined her husband, Bill, in retirement in 2003.

Judy and Bill met as teenagers and were married in 1961.  Together they raised two sons and were each other’s partner in life for over 60 years.  Judy was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and enjoyed decades of teaching Sunday School classes at West Normandy Baptist and Hibernia Baptist churches.  She also volunteered as church librarian and many other positions of service.  Judy loved spending time with family, reading, walking on the beach, and visiting the Smokey Mountains. 

She is survived by her husband Bill, sons William C. Dixon IV, M.D. (Shannon), Dean Wilton Dixon (Doris), grandchildren Libby, Grant, John Henry, and Ragan, and siblings Betty Knight (Donnie), Frankie Wainwright, Anita Crews (Raymond), and Frank Wainwright, Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held January 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Hibernia Baptist Church, Fleming Island, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
