Raymond “Ray” Robertson passed away on February 28, 2022, at Penney Farms Retirement Community. He was born on April 26, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the Air Force stationed in Japan, followed by 34 years employment with General Electric Neutron Devices.
On August 3, 1968, he married Jeanne Elizabeth Connolly. Together they helped raise Ray’s son, Dale, and daughter, Debra. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal, Clearwater, FL; Holy Trinity Episcopal, Clearwater, FL; Grace Episcopal Church, Asheville, NC; and Penney Memorial Church, Penney Farms, FL.
Ray had a passion for Antique Cars, serving as president of Great Smoky Mountain Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was an avid collector of antique guns, knives, and cameras, Ray loved traveling and camping with the family. He was also known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He loved his family and enjoyed planning excursions for the grandchildren. The most popular was a huge waterslide he constructed in the front yard for all to slide down.
Ray is preceded in death by his son, Dale and his brother, Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Debra; and daughter-in-law, Cindy (Bob); 11 grandchildren Jessica Wagner (Dale); Daniel Ehredt; Warren Yehl (Barbara); Christopher Schaer; Walter Yehl (Ellie),
Amanda Villa (Ezekiel); Lydia Bruner (Garrett); Willis Yehl (Chin); Anna Ehredt (Robert); Joshua Yehl; Hope Yehl; 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Penney Farms Retirement Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life of Ray will be 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm, Saturday, March 26, 2022 in the Fellowship Hall at Penney Memorial Church, Penney Farms, Florida.
A Service with reception following will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Grace Episcopal Church, 871 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Penney Memorial Church, 4465 Poling Blvd., PO Box 354, Penney Farms, FL 32043 (put "Scholarship fund" on memo line).
